Filthy Beauty

The phrase that comes to mind when speaking of Photographer Annie Watson is
"There's is beauty in everything, but not everyone see it."

Ann Watson has tried to find the beauty in the aftermath of a devastating life situation, Hurricane Sandy.

Annie Watson:

"Last year my community was hit by Hurricane Sandy. We live in a beach community in Queens, NY, where over a hundred houses burnt to the ground and, another 300 were completely destroyed by floods.

Our house was still standing, but was severely flooded.
In my professional life I am a portrait photographer. www.anniewatson.com
My studio was closed much of last year due to rebuilding our home. It’s been a long haul.
While rebuilding, I had a need to see beauty, somewhere, amidst all of the destruction and urban decay.

While taking breaks from the insulation, sheet-rocking, electric, plumbing, and flooring I would venture out and try to discover something beautiful. I had to look really close, because the wide shots were too disturbing.
The shots are of true urban decay. Mainly dumpsters.
They say one man’s trash is another man’s treasure. I found my treasures on another man’s dumpster.

My Etsy Shop filthybeauty was born. filthybeauty"
