Melanie Rhodes
Melanie Rhodes combined her early interests in art, math, and science by pursuing graduate and post-graduate studies in architecture at Columbia University. Although she initially launched a career in finance, the forged-metal jewelry she was creating in her spare time attracted so much attention on city streets that she eventually decided to leave Wall Street to design jewelry full time. Rhodes is inspired by modern and postmodern styles, and always aims to have form follow function with strong, fluid lines, shapes, volume, and a balanced interplay of light and shadow.
Alberto di Fabio
Beautiful patterned paintings inspired by science and nature by Italian Abstract artist, Alberto di Fabio, born in 1966
[The Porthault firm embroidered all the linen for Aristotle Onassis's yacht, Christina. Shown above, marine life serves as a unifying decorative theme. According to author Francoise de Bonneville, the execution here is "so perfect, especially in terms of shading, that it is hard to distinguish the watercolor sketch from the final embroidered version."
