NYC Glam Apartment

High Performance: NASCAR's Jimmie Johnson's New York Apartment

For a NASCAR champion and his wife, designer Shawn Henderson brings sophistication and softness to an apartment in a downtown Manhattan tower.

Designer SHAWN HENDERSON: "Chandra and Jimmie Johnson. He's a Hall of Fame NASCAR driver; she's a former model, among other things, with an incredible sense of personal style. They have one child."

In the living room of a Manhattan apartment designed by Shawn Henderson, the sofa and chaise are by Edward Wormley for Dunbar, the 1930s armchair is from Denmark, and the floor lamps are by Hinson & Company. The curtains are of a Larsen wool from Cowtan & Tout, and the resin-top cocktail tables, credenza, and rug are custom made.

The 1960s rosewood dining table is surrounded by Kaare Klint chairs, and the chandelier is by Lindsey Adelman.

A C. Jeré wall sculpture hangs above a cabinet by Henderson in the office.

In the master bedroom, the blackened-steel four-poster bed is custom made, the Papa Bear chair and ottoman are by Hans Wegner, and the walls have a custom plaster finish.
